2020 Dallas Cowboys Schedule (EST)
How Cowboys’ Schedule is Determined
Every Cowboys regular season schedule is split evenly with eight home games and eight games played on the road, with one bye week. Here’s how the schedule of opponents for any given season is determined for Dallas:
- Cowboys play each divisional opponent twice (Eagles, Giants, Redskins)
- 4 games are played vs 4 non-divisional NFC teams (all from the same division)
- 4 games are played vs 4 teams from the AFC (all from the same division)
- 2 games are played vs 2 other NFC conference teams based on prior year’s standings
Games are ordered for any given season in a way that maximizes viewership for the NFL as a whole.
The Cowboys always host an NFL game on Thanksgiving day, which always falls on the fourth Thursday in November. This game can be broadcast on CBS or FOX in either the early or late time slot though the Cowboys historically play in the late afternoon on Thanksgiving. The game is always nationally televised.
